Use AutoCAD® 2006 software to realize your ideas with maximum speed, power, and efficiency. Beginning with dramatically smaller file sizes in AutoCAD® 2004, and continuing with the Sheet Set Manager in AutoCAD® 2005, Autodesk is raising the bar on productivity once again with AutoCAD 2006. From the new dynamic blocks capability that allows you to quickly create, manipulate, and extract data from blocks, to heads-up design, which keeps your focus on your work rather than on the software, AutoCAD 2006 makes an impact on the way you work, every single day.
Dynamic BlocksBlocks are a lot smarter in this release. As designs become more complex, block libraries grow. And as block libraries grow, data becomes difficult to manage. AutoCAD 2006 puts the control back where it belongs-with you. Dynamic blocks dramatically reduce cumbersome block libraries and enable you to modify block geometry during insertion with new grips and action features.
Annotating and Composing DrawingsStreamline the creation, placement, and editing of text and table information with the new AutoCAD 2006 Mtext command and enhanced table features. Now, text created in the Mtext Editor has exactly the same appearance in the editor as it does in the drawing. Positioning text is a snap, and you can create bulleted lists in the format that conforms to your drawing standards. You also can automatically update your table calculations as your designs and documentation progress. Hatching capabilities are greatly enhanced as well. Hatch multiple areas with a single command, add and remove hatch boundaries, and easily calculate the area of single or multiple hatches, with the value displayed as a field on the drawing.
Enhanced User InterfaceWith AutoCAD 2006, you no longer have to shift your focus between your drawing and the command line. In addition to the traditional method of entering information, AutoCAD 2006 puts the power of the command line at the graphics cursor, where you can enter dimensional and command option information as you work. Also new in this release are customizable tool palettes. Whether you want commands, blocks, macros, company standards, or LISP routines, you can have the content you use every day, organized the way you use it.
AutoCAD LT
AutoCAD LT® software makes all parts of the 2D design process more productive. Daily tasks are simplified, helping you concentrate on the design instead of the toolset.

Efficient Everyday Drafting - Get more done in less time with productivity tools focused on the things you do every day.
- Dynamic Blocks-Access multiple variations on a single block, dramatically reduce cumbersome block libraries, and modify block geometry during and after insertion.
- Layer Express Tools-Increase day-to-day productivity by using the popular AutoCAD Express Tools for layer management.
- Streamlined table creation and editing-Insert standard WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) tables with in-place editing, and save time and reduce errors by performing calculations in your tables.
- Improved text manipulation-Create and edit text in the same way it will appear in the drawing, and apply style, font, and other text properties to characters and words in the text object.
- Better hatching-Hatch multiple continuous boundaries with a single command and easily calculate both individual and cumulative hatch areas.
- Customized tool palettes-Store frequently used blocks and hatches in customized tool palettes, automatically apply preassigned tool properties as you insert content, and drag predefined content from your drawings.
- Enhanced user interface-Launch commands, read prompts, and enter values right at the graphics cursor. Perform calculations and derive values from drawing entities with Quick Calc, and select objects easier with dynamic highlighting.
- Efficient dimensioning-Dimension the length of an arc and large radii curves, flip dimension arrows, and select varying dimension linetypes quickly and easily.
Be more productive by efficiently sharing information electronically with team members for viewing, printing, marking up, or round-tripping design changes.
- Smart publishing-Publish intelligent design data to a single DWFT file at 1/10th the size of other file formats.
- PDF creation-Export drawing files in Adobe® PDF format.
- DWF as an underlay-Import a DWF file and use it as a transparent "underlay" that serves as a starting point for adding new information.
- Read/write to past versions of AutoCAD-Collaborate and exchange data with users on older versions of AutoCAD® software.
Get efficient plotting through a streamlined plot user interface, which just happens to fit nicely into a streamlined design process.
- Enhanced plot user interface-Access the most frequently used plot controls, with all page setup controls in a single dialog box, and preview current plot settings applied to your drawing before you plot.
- Background plotting-Don't wait for plot jobs to finish before you get back to work. Publish DWF files or plot to paper while continuing to work in the drawing editor with background plotting

Autodesk® VIZ 2006 is the 3D modeling, rendering, and presentation software that provides state-of-the-art image creation technologies for communicating and sharing your design intent. Design professionals use Autodesk VIZ throughout the design process to develop and explore concepts and alternatives; communicate design intent to clients, colleagues, and consultants; and validate designs to help ensure their accuracy. Autodesk VIZ software accommodates whatever level of visual representation you require-from real-time studies to photorealistic virtual prototypes to compelling multimedia presentations.
Preliminary Conceptual ModelingAutodesk VIZ adds unique value at every stage of the design process to help you develop your projects and get them out the door fast. You can create design forms directly in Autodesk VIZ using advanced modeling features, and then transfer your work smoothly into your CAD environment, or other Autodesk applications, such as Autodesk® Revit® Building or Autodesk Inventor® software, for further refinement and precision drafting.
Designing with LightLight is central to defining the character of space and form. With global illumination rendering technology, you can capture subtle lighting effects such as indirect illumination, soft shadowing, and color bounce that make your renderings come alive with stunning realism. Your renderings are also more accurate, so you can better evaluate and communicate what your design will look like under varying conditions. The process is straightforward-just set up the lighting exactly the way you would in the real world.
An Integrated SolutionSometimes a project requires advanced 3D visualization; sometimes it requires detailed construction documentation. Autodesk VIZ is an integral part of a design solution that lets you work with the software best suited to the task at hand and fluidly share data between a variety of Autodesk software applications. With enhanced DWG File Link and import capabilities, the data you create in any AutoCAD® 2004, 2005, or 2006-based design application, such as AutoCAD, Autodesk® Architectural Desktop, or AutoCAD® Mechanical, can be used in Autodesk VIZ and vice versa, maintaining data integrity throughout the design process.
